Dying is perhaps too harsh a fate. Its not the games that are the problem, its the business model. In-app purchases are a terrible concept that could be ruinous for gaming generally.
What's worse, it only works in some cases. The problem, is that when it works, its works really, really well. To the tune of billions of dollars.

But that said, Android and iOS have some awesome games.
This pseudo-episodic thing was done once before, with the Alone in Dark reboot from a few years ago. It actually makes more sense for games to follow this format than the movie one in my opinion.
You would know this as an informed consumer, but the people polled in this study are average consumers. They probably don't even know what DLC stands for.
They say its for power cos that's what the sales guy told them, or their uncle, or they heard it on the playground somewhere.
I think the author may be misrepresenting the data from this study.
I can't say with certainty, but I would think that the people polled in this study don't all self-identify as gamers and thus brand would be and appropriate answer. Because to their mind they conflate the xbox "brand" with video games.
Remember they didn't come up with that answer it one of the options in the survey.

The Bad Company games excelled at delivering a brilliant characters and snappy dialogue.
